Attorney General William P. Barr appointed Robert J. Gundlach as an immigration judge in March 2020. Judge Gundlach earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2004 from the University of Michiganand a Juris Doctor in 2009 from Wayne State University Law School. From 2016 to 2020, heserved as an assistant chief counsel, Office of Chief Counsel, Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in New York. From 2011 to 2016, he served as an attorney advisor for the Board of Immigration Appeals, Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), Department of Justice (DOJ). From 2009 to 2011, he served as a judicial law clerk and attorney advisor for the New York City Immigration Court, EOIR, DOJ, entering on duty through the Attorney General’s Honors Program. Judge Gundlach is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and New York State Bar.
