From 1989 to 1991, Judge Freerks worked as a staff attorney for Border Association for Refugees from Central America in Edinburg, Texas. Judge Freerks worked as a staff attorney in 1991 for the Methodist Legal Ministries in Brownsville, Texas. He is a member of the Texas Bar.
